About the 29th Combat Aviation Brigade
The 29th Combat Aviation Brigade (“29th CAB”) is one of the three major subordinate commands in the Maryland Army National Guard (MDARNG), providing command and control to a variety of aviation and other units. The 29th CAB has both Federal and State missions. The 29th CAB is headquartered at the Edgewood Area of Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland and is commanded by Colonel
Mark M. Beckler.
The 29th CAB has a proud and distinguished history, with units having deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom (“OIF”), Operation Enduring Freedom (“OEF”), Operation New Dawn (OND), Kosovo and Bosnia. Additionally, units have performed in a variety of missions within the United States including support along the Southwest Border, support to Hurricane Gustav relief efforts and support for the historic Inauguration of President Barack Obama in January 2009. The support provided to President Obama’s Inauguration activities resulted in the awarding of the “Army Superior Unit Award” to a number of 29th CAB units.
