There are many opportunities to earn money in the Maryland Army National Guard. In addition to receiving a monthly paycheck, bonuses are available for those enlisting into critical-skilled positions, completing initial training during a certain period, having previously served in the military or possessing certain job skills.
Maryland Army National Guard Soldiers are covered for any injury, illness or disease incurred or aggravated in the line of duty, including traveling to and from military duty. Soldiers and their families are also eligible to purchase TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS) which is a premium-based healthcare plan. Soldiers can also sign up for Dental insurance. Guard Recruiting and Assistance Program
The Guard Recruiting Assistance Program recognizes and rewarding those who help the Army National Guard achieve its recruiting goals. Guard Recruiting Assistants (RA) can earn additional income assisting Army National Guard recruiting efforts by identifying well-qualified men and women for service in the Guard. RAs may earn up to $7,500 for each select Officer Candidate who accepts a Commission and $2,000 for each enlistment. Visit guardrap.com for more information.
Continue to add to your retirement plan with the Thrift Savings Plan and your military retirement. At age 60, after at least 20 years of satisfactory military service, you may start collecting retirement pay. Upon retirement, a service member is eligible for Tricare for Life. Your 20 years of service can include any combination of active, reserve and Guard duty, as long as your last eight years are spent in the Army National Guard. Retire at your highest rank!

Space A Travel
Space Available Flight, also known as Space A or military hops, is a unique privilege provided to servicemembers, retirees and their families. Under the Space-Available (Space A) program, eligible passengers can fill unused seats on DoD-owned or controlled aircraft once all the space-required (duty) passengers and cargo have been accommodated.
